MOVING BETWEEN WORLDS 遊走於世界之間
何藹恩的繪畫實踐展開於文化身份與美學顛覆之間的臨界空間。身為香港裔加拿大藝術家,她將西方學術訓練與東亞流行文化語彙融為一體,以動畫符號、圖像敘事及電影美學為媒介,對主流藝術體制的品味階序提出批判性挑戰。
其創作核心在於形式的去穩定化——她標誌性的溶解人物將身體與色彩場域相互融合,以具體的視覺形式呈現「身體成為文化協商的可變場所」這一概念(Sternberg Press,2022)。
這種張力在她備受矚目的系列作品《現代主義困在我腦中》(Modernism Stuck in My Head,2016年至今)中得到最直接的呈現:人物面部被碎裂的現代主義雕塑所貫穿,使面孔成為藝術史與個人身份相互衝突的角力場。何藹恩的卡通化、模糊性圖像與阿爾普及布朗庫西的造型語言相互碰撞,構建出一個個充滿矛盾的符號世界,批判超消費主義社會中「身份即財產」的文化邏輯。
一如盧克·圖伊曼斯(Luc Tuymans)對歷史空白的刻意抹除,何藹恩亦在畫面中部署經過計算的消除策略。然而,圖伊曼斯指向的是歷史的虛空,何藹恩那些被一分為二的面孔,揭示的則是我們內化已久的藝術教條。她的作品最終提出一個根本性的追問:我們,是否不過是所消費之符號的集合體?
