在世界之間移動

Carol Ho 的畫作在文化認同與美感顛覆之間的邊緣空間展開。這位香港裔加拿大藝術家將西方的學院派訓練與東亞流行文化的本土語言融合,將動畫比喻、圖像敘事和電影美學轉化為對傳統品味等級制度的顛覆性挑戰。

她的實踐核心是形式上的不穩定:她標誌性的溶解人物將身體與色彩場融合在一起,體現了埃娃·納平斯卡 (Ewa Knapinska) 的“軟骨架”概念,即“身體成為可變的文化談判場所”(Sternberg Press,2022 年)。

她備受讚譽的系列作品《困於我腦海的現代主義》(2016年至今)將破碎的中世紀雕塑嵌入肖像畫中——這是一種戲仿藝術界迷戀的俗氣怪誕的介入。這些策略構成了史騰伯格理論家查爾斯·梅里韋瑟所說的「偽裝成記憶的未來慾望」。何氏將混雜性武器化,她卡通式的朦朧圖像與阿爾普/布朗庫西的呼應相碰撞,創造出不和諧的符號世界,批判了超消費主義中身份即財產的觀念。

就像呂克·圖伊曼斯 (Luc Tuymans) 一樣,她也採用了精心策劃的抹去手法,但圖伊曼斯暗示的是歷史空白,而何被一分為二的面孔則暴露了我們內化的藝術教條。
